Slava Polunin’s great circus show that everyone wants to see again
Slava Polunin, from the Cirque du Soleil family, a collaborator in the creation of Alegría and possibly the most prestigious clown currently working internationally, brings his most popular show, Slava’s Snowshow, back to Spain.
Once again, we are visited by the quality, magic, and originality of this wonderful production, which has garnered numerous international recognitions and awards over more than 25 years of touring the best stages in the world.
Not even its own creator could have foreseen, back in 1993, the year of its creation, the impressive trajectory and global impact that this show would have, which has accumulated more than 8,000 performances and has left more than 5 million spectators touched and amazed by the extraordinary visual beauty of this creation.
Slava’s Snowshow has achieved sold out status in more than ten international tours in North America, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Mexico, Germany, Austria, Australia, New Zealand, and Spain, where it has already been seen by more than 90,000 spectators.
In this new visit to Spain, the show will be performed starting in October 2023. It will be a unique opportunity to discover Slava’s Snowshow, or even to see it again, as many will repeat the experience of enjoying this unique piece, which captivates from the first minutes of the performance and in which the spectators live with great intensity – sometimes in the first person – the vicissitudes of the endearing and disturbing clowns who star in it.

Slava’s Snowshow is a theatrical circus show, poetic and timeless, that has captivated and enhanced, like no other, the imagination of audiences of diverse genres, beliefs, characteristics, and ages. The show is a genre in itself and remains as spontaneous and magical as the first day, systematically catapulting every adult back to their childhood. Slava’s Snowshow has reinstated the art of clowning, seducing again those who had dismissed it as an outdated form of circus.
The show is a caravan of organized chaos, revelry, and charm that, tirelessly, travels the world offering everyone – young and old – an opportunity to leave their daily lives at the doors of the theater and immerse themselves in a state of “happy stupidity.” It is an excuse to celebrate life in a crazy way and make the audience experience very different emotions and experiences in its hour and a half duration: deep nostalgia, excessive joy, and even moments of great uncertainty and tension.

Born in 1950 in the small Russian city of Novosil, Slava Polunin is a living legend of clowning. Recognized and loved in his country since the 70s for founding the Licedei clown theater, he has become a highly respected cultural icon throughout the world. A tireless pioneer in the creation of theatrical and street productions, he has been the architect of a multitude of international festivals, combining dozens of companies and experimenting with films, books, gardens, and all kinds of projects.
His theater is characterized by feeding the factories of dreams and fairy tales. He has developed and mastered the metaphysical art with mastery, delving into tragicomedy to make understand to what extent drama can be combined with laughter. It captivates a modern audience accustomed to crazy rhythms, in an inexhaustible kaleidoscope of colors, sounds, spaces, and times.
Many refer to Slava as “the best clown in the world.” However, his greatest pride is, in his own words, to preside over the Academy of Fools. Created by himself in 1990, its purpose is “to provide people who know how to have fun in life, a way to be happy. It is an important institution that opposes the vanity and excessive seriousness of the world. Its purpose is that people do not lose the ability to smile when smelling a flower, lying on the grass or looking at the sky… this academy serves to ensure that all this does not disappear from life.”
In addition to expanding the art of the absurd in a playful way and conquering millions of spectators, his incessant imagination has shaped the Moulin Jaune, a fairytale house where Slava experiments, giving free rein to his intense creativity and particular reality. In this space, near Paris, a dialogue takes place between art and nature, being the germ of endless projects.
