Steve McCurry – ICONS

Featuring over 100 large-format photographs, ICONS is one of the most comprehensive retrospectives of Steve McCurry’s career.

Steve McCurry Icons has been presented in Madrid (2021-2022), Lisbon (2022-2023), Mexico City (2023), Buenos Aires (2023), and Sydney (2022-2023). The exhibition features over 100 large-format photographs and presents McCurry’s most iconic images, such as the legendary portrait of the Afghan girl Sharbat Gula taken in 1984, which was the cover of National Geographic magazine in 1985.

Steve McCurry is one of the most accomplished contemporary photographers, as well as an inspiration to many people, especially younger generations, who see in his photos a way to interpret our present.

Each of his images portrays a complex world of experiences and emotions that connect the viewer with different realities and ways of understanding life.

In this exhibition, curated by Biba Giacchetti, the public will travel through Steve McCurry’s photographic universe, through a journey that will take them from Afghanistan to India, from Southeast Asia to Africa, from Cuba to the United States or from Brazil to Italy: a fascinating repertoire of images in which the human element is always the protagonist.
